Frequently Asked Questions
I am completely out of shape. Can I still join?
Absolutely! Getting you fit is our job. The vast majority of women who join this program have zero prior martial arts or fitness experience. You will work at your own pace on the pads, and you will be amazed at how quickly your stamina and strength improve.
Are the classes taught by men or women?
We pride ourselves on having highly experienced, expert female instructors who deeply understand the specific goals, concerns, and biomechanics of women in martial arts.
Am I going to get bruised or hurt?
Safety is our number one rule. This is NOT a “fight club.” You will be hitting focus mitts and heavy bags, practicing escapes in a highly controlled, cooperative manner. There is no aggressive sparring, and you are always in control of your own intensity.
What should I wear to my first class?
Wear comfortable activewear (like leggings or track pants and a t-shirt)—whatever you feel most comfortable sweating in! Bring a water bottle and a towel. We train barefoot on specialized safety mats.
